We are happy to present the work of visual artist and author Freja Erixån who's work we have admired for a long time. Her paintings and pictures build a distinct visual naivistic language, often amplified with words and humor. Her work does not seldom respond to societal taboo concerns and norms.
Freja Erixån (b. 1990) is a visual artist, cartoonist and illustrator based in Malmö, Sweden. She took her Master Degree in Design at HDK School of Design and Crafts in 2018. Her work has been curated at galleries such as Galleri Thomassen in Gothenburg (2021), Stenungsunds konsthall (2020) and at Sandvikens konsthall (2016).
Her debut series book ”Över min döda kropp” (”Over my dead body”) was published in February 2019 and the sequel “Bakom begäret bredvid behaget” (“Behind the desire next to the pleasure”) will be published in November 2021, both at the publisher Kartago Förlag.
Erixån mostly draws and paints with oil pastel, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic on paper.
